What is HIV? HIV stands for ‘Human Immunodeficiency Virus’ and is virus that attacks the immune system.
Where did it come from? It is believed that this disease was spread from chimpanzees and was most likely transmitted to humans and changed into HIV when people chased them for meat and came in contact with their contaminated blood.
Who can get it? Anyone who has unprotected sex with an infected person or shares infected equipment has a high risk of getting ill with the disease
Is there a cure? There is no cure because the human immune system cant seem to get rid of it. That means once you have HIV, you have it for life.
