Human Development Index (HDI) - is a statistical tool used to measure a country's social and economic dimensions overall achievements. Is a tool developed by the United Nations to measure and rank countries' levels of social and economic development based on four criteria:
- Life expectancy at birth - indicated the number of years a newborn infant would live if prevailing patterns of mortality at the time of its birth were to stay the same throughout its life.
- Mean years of schooling - Average numbers of years of education received by people ages 25 and older, converted from education attainment levels using official durations of each level.
- Expected years of schooling - Number of years of schooling that a child of school entrance age can expect to receive if prevailing patterns of age-specific enrolment rates persist throughout life disaggregated by sex.
